On December 12, the French band The Novelists released their latest single promoting their upcoming album. "K.O." shows that the musicians are not afraid to experiment with their sound.
As the band writes on their Facebook profile:
“With this first release, we wanted to show greater diversity than can fit into one song. That’s why we decided to release 'K.O.' yesterday. Together with 'Coda', it provides the first glimpse into what our new album sounds like.
“K.O.” is a slower song with a less conventional structure of a typical “single”, so by combining it with “Coda”, we hope that more people will listen to the track, which could easily be overlooked in the context of the album's release. 'K.O.' is one of our favorite songs we’ve ever written, and we are extremely proud and excited to finally share it with the world.”
The latest release has certainly caught the attention of loyal listeners who are a great support for the band, positively commenting on their decisions regarding style changes. The Novelists are certainly not afraid to experiment with their sound, which is confirmed by the second single 'K.O.'. It leans more towards a ballad than a metalcore anthem, yet it is certainly impossible to pass by without notice. The delicate vocals combined with the atmospheric guitar sounds remind one of popular alternative ballads from the 2000s in the style of Evanescence, enriched with a modern twist. Additionally, the band opted for French accents in their song, intertwining their native language with English, which is usually their constant reference point.
At the turn of January and February, the band will appear on stages in Kraków and Gdańsk, accompanied by The Omnific and TesseracT. One thing is certain in this lineup: it will be an energetic evening, full of heavy guitar sounds accompanied by melodic vocals.
