Marcus & Martinus, after their performance at last year's Eurovision, came to Wrocław in March this year, where they played a sold-out concert at A2. However, they have recently announced that they will return to Poland - on February 13 they will perform at the B17 club in Poznań, and the next day at the Bemowo Hall in Warsaw. On this occasion, we talked to them about the concert tour, musical novelties in the upcoming months, and their expectations regarding the Polish audience.
Wiktor Fejkiel: Wrocław was the last stop of your March tour. Do you see it as a special summary of these last 15 performances?
Marcus: Although we have been on tour for four weeks now and some of us are mega tired, we know that Poland is an amazing place for concerts and will reward us for all this effort. Even if we were all exhausted, the energy of the local audience will make us give our all.
Martinus: I think that Poland is the perfect place to end this part of the tour.
What do you actually expect from the Polish audience, keeping in mind what happened recently in Warsaw?
Marcus: Every time we come here, the audience has incredible energy. We love it because the people are crazy in the best sense of the word.
Martinus: We are always impressed by their engagement - it's the best type of audience that gives you the same energy back that we put into our performances.
Do you feel special here compared to other cities? Personally, I must admit that I rarely encounter such an engaged audience as before today's show in Wrocław.
Martinus: Every city has its own vibe, but in Poland, we always see immense passion in the eyes of the fans. In Warsaw, they sang all the songs, which was really amazing.
Marcus: You know, today for example we will perform a song that hasn't been released yet, and I'm still sure that the audience will sing it - so, we feel special here.
Thinking of Poland as a country, what comes to mind first?
Marcus: Red and white (laughs)!
Martinus: I think of my football team colleagues. We have a few Polish players who are great.
Last year you released the album "Unforgettable." How do you view it from the perspective of almost a year?
Marcus: We are very proud of this album and the process of making it. It has significantly helped us to develop in Europe and gain new listeners.
Martinus: This album means a lot to us - you might say we view it as one of the breakthrough moments in our career.
You were away for a long time before this album - how do you find yourselves in this current reality? A new album, a huge concert tour - something is happening all the time.
Martinus: That's true! There are many changes compared to the previous pre-pandemic years, but we love this fast pace.
Marcus: We feel good because music is our life - when you love what you do, it's easy to find yourself in it.
Can we expect more new things from you in the coming months?
Marcus: Yes, a new song will appear within a month or two, and then more will come in the summer, so we are not slowing down.
Martinus: We hope you will like them (laughs).
Returning to your concerts - do you prefer playing older songs or those from the latest album?
Marcus: Probably the new ones. But the old ones also have their charm because fans know them by heart, and there is no greater satisfaction for us than singing along with the audience.
Martinus: With new songs, there is also that element of excitement because you are doing something for the first time; with older ones, it doesn't have as much emotion.
Have you noticed an influx of new fans after Eurovision?
Marcus: Yes, although as you mentioned - we had a brief break, so maybe it's just a matter of our fans growing up…
Do you personally prefer creating in the studio or performing concerts?
Marcus: Concerts! It has always been our dream - to be on stage and sing for fans.
Martinus: Absolutely agree - definitely live performances.
Lastly, what are your plans for the upcoming months?
Marcus: Definitely a return to Poland.
